Welcome to MBSR of the Lake Tahoe area. My name is Jackie Griffin. I am a Registered Nurse and a MBSR instructor. Since 2011 I have been helped people discover the gift of mindfulness meditation practice. I completed my training through the UMassCenter for Mindfulness.
What is MBSR?
Mindfulness - Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was pioneered by Jon Kabat - Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
It is an accessible and practical training in decreasing stress and nurturing health and well - being.
The eight week curriculum is an intensive training in meditative disciplines with the goal of helping people access their inner wisdom and resources. Participants will engage in many aspects of mindfulness practices such as sitting, yoga, walking, Qi gong, eating and listening. Classes also include discussions on the patho - physiology of the stress reaction and how to cultivate greater resilience.
Over the last four decades, MBSR has proven to be highly effective in helping people lessen stress, cultivate ease and balance and promote a healthy life style.
